Dometic Marine reported very strong interest in its products and positive feedback from its dealers as the company’s Marine Air brand celebrated its 50th year exhibiting at the Progressive Miami International Boat Show last weekend.
Marine Air was honored by the National Marine Manufacturers Association to join fellow Dometic brand Cruisair, which is a former recipient of the Miami half-century accolade. SeaLand is set to receive its celebratory balloons on the Miami booth within the next few years.
A world-leading supplier of marine air conditioning and sanitation equipment, Dometic Marine’s presence this year spanned three booths with Cruisair, Marine Air, Dometic and SeaLand products on display in the Convention Center.
The new products featured included the Eskimo Ice 1000D, the award-winning and innovative Gold Series Air Handler and the new range of SeaLand flush-control switches.
Ken Taranto, Vice President of Aftermarket Sales for Dometic Marine, said: “It was a great show for us. People were interested in our products and the feedback from all our dealers indicated they were taking orders. For those products with special rebate offers, visitors have ten days after the show to place their orders to take advantage of the boat show rebates. We anticipate the dealers had a great show.
“Interest was extremely strong in our full range of products for the 30 to 50 foot cruiser market and sport fishing boats. The Eskimo Ice was particularly popular, as were the VacuFlush toilets for people who wanted to upgrade their existing sanitation system to a premier toilet system for cruisers.
“Traffic was very strong, particularly on Friday and the weekend, with lots of people in the Convention Center. The weather was cool, but dry, and attendance seemed strong.”
With official figures yet to be announced, show organizers were expecting the number of attendees to top the 100,000 mark this year.
As the first major Florida show after the recent presidential election, the positive atmosphere at Miami was a significant indicator that the mood in the marine industry is reflecting the wider upbeat trends in the U.S. economy, commented Taranto.
“Boats are selling. I believe this was the strongest Miami Show in over five or six years,” added Taranto. “Activity levels were high, feedback was positive and capital equipment sales were strong.
“With the resolution of the political issues and the fiscal cliff problem, the housing market is improving, the stock market is recovering and unemployment continues to go down. I think people feel great about the economy in general and this translates into stronger sales for new boats and equipment.”
